## How we read these numbers

Businesses are counted one by one, websites are not: when forty shops in a shopping centre all list the centre's website, that is one website in every figure about the web, not forty.

A website counts as working when our crawler managed to open at least one of its pages. Everything about SEO, speed and AI readability covers working websites only, and each scan keeps the numbers it measured on the day it ran.
