Landing page vs website: which one does your business need?

A landing page is one page built to get one thing done: a call, a booking, a quote request. A website is several pages that let people explore everything you do. If your business sells one thing, a landing page is usually enough. If it sells several, or you compete for many searches, you need a website. This article shows how to tell which side you are on, what each costs, and why picking the smaller one first is not a dead end.
When a landing page is enough
A landing page does its job when everything you want to say fits one visit and leads to one action. It is the right choice if:
- your business focuses on one service or one product, a leak detection company that only does leak detection, say;
- you want to be online fast, to start collecting contacts this week rather than next quarter;
- you are sending people to the page yourself, from ads, a business card, a QR code or a social profile, so you do not depend on search to be found;
- you want to test an offer before you invest in a bigger site.
Our landing page design starts from 320 euros if we rework the page you already have, or 520 euros from scratch, VAT included, and goes live in under a week.
When you need a full website
A website earns its extra pages when people need more than one visit's worth of information, or when each page has a different search to win. Choose one if:
- you have several services to explain, and each deserves its own page;
- you have a catalog, a list of locations or a set of products to show;
- your customers read before they get in touch, which is common in B2B and in anything technical;
- you are trying to rank in a competitive market. One page can answer one search well; every extra service or town you want to be found for is another page;
- you need more languages, a booking flow or legal pages beyond the basics.

Our web design services start from 760 euros for a restyle or 1,160 euros from scratch, VAT included, and a full website goes live in about a week. It includes the copy, the design, the legal pages and the Google setup.

Starting small is not a dead end
The choice is not permanent. Ricerca Perdite 1972, a leak detection company in the province of Verona, started with a landing page to be online within a week. When it started paying off, we grew it into a full website with a page for every service and every town. In its first 42 days as a full website, clicks from Google went from 6 to 40, and the first calls came in the third month: the full numbers are in the case study.
Nothing was thrown away on the way. The work already done became the foundation for every new page, which is the reason to start with the smaller option when you are not sure.
If you already have a site
If the site exists but is slow, dated or not bringing in contacts, neither of the two is the answer: a redesign starts from what you have rather than throwing it away. See our website redesign services.
Three questions to decide in five minutes
- How many different things do you sell? One points to a landing page, several to a website.
- Where do your customers come from? If you bring them to the page yourself, a landing page can carry them; if they have to find you on Google, you need a page for each thing they search.
- How soon do you need to be online? Both go live within about a week, so time rarely decides it: scope does.
If you still cannot tell, half an hour on a call is enough to work it out, and if the cheapest option is the right one, we will say so. You can book it from the contact page.
